Fiets.fr was born out of the desire to stop buying or selling products that are not eco-responsible. The production of a new bike emits greenhouse gases that we could do without. MIT graduate Shreya Dave has calculated that, on average, the manufacture of a bicycle produces around 240 kg of greenhouse gases. Another researcher estimates that in terms of total carbon footprint, a manufacturing cost of €700 emits one tonne of CO2 equivalent! (source).

The manufacture of a bicycle uses a lot of CO2, unless it’s made of wood and close to home, like the Sandwichbike, a unique wooden bicycle that’s fun to ride and gives your brand great visibility.
